Kasol
Morning to explore Malana's unique culture (respectfully and with your guide's guidance). The village temple of Jamlu Devta is the centre of a democratic self-governance system that predates modern democracy by centuries. Descend from Malana through the Malana Valley to the road head at Jari in the Parvati Valley. The trail drops through cannabis fields (Malana's other claim to fame) and thick forest to the Malana Nala. Drive from Jari back to Manali (1.5 hours). Arrive to hot showers and a celebration dinner. This trek is a remarkable combination of high-altitude passes, ancient trade routes, and one of the most culturally unique villages in the world.

Sightseeing: Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara
Morning group photo session at Parvati Valley from Chalal trail. Breakfast together. Exchange contacts and farewell. Transfer to departure point. The trip ends but the travel fam continues.
Sightseeing: Parvati Valley
Arrive in Kasol (1,640m), the backpacker capital of the Parvati Valley. Drive to Grahan village trailhead and begin the trek through a dense forest of oak, walnut, and horse chestnut. The trail to Grahan (2,500m) is steep but beautiful — you gain 800m in just 5 km. Grahan is a magical village: wooden houses with slate roofs cluster around an ancient temple, apple orchards terrace the hillside, and the villagers are some of the friendliest in Himachal. The village has maintained its traditional character despite being on a popular trekking route. Camp at the village edge with views down the Parvati Valley to the snow peaks beyond.

Cross Sar Pass (4,220m) early morning. The approach is a moderate snow slope that requires crampons or microspikes — steeper than it looks from camp. The pass itself is a broad snow saddle with mesmerizing views — the entire Kullu Valley opens up on the far side, a patchwork of green fields, forests, and tiny villages. The descent from the pass is the trek's signature moment: a 700-metre snow slide down a smooth slope to the valley below. Sit on a plastic sheet and slide — it's exhilarating, terrifying, and over in about 90 seconds. Trek down through Biskeri Thatch meadow to camp at the tree line.

Sightseeing: Cross Sar Pass, Kullu Valley
A recovery day of gentle walking through high-altitude meadows carpeted in wildflowers during summer — blue poppies, primulas, and edelweiss dot the landscape. The gradual ascent to Odi Thatch (3,600m) allows your body to acclimatize to the thinning air. Take short walks to nearby ridges for panoramic views of the surrounding 5,000m+ peaks. Your guide will point out the route to the pass visible high above — a notch in the ridge that seems impossibly far away. Wildlife sightings are common here: Himalayan griffon vultures soaring on thermals, marmots whistling from boulder fields, and if you're lucky, a blue sheep (bharal) on distant slopes.
Summit day — the culmination of everything. Leave camp at 3 AM and climb by the light of a billion stars. The final approach to Pin Parvati Pass (5,319m) is a gruelling 4-hour push up steep ice and snow. Reach the pass as the sun rises — and the world transforms. Behind you, the green Parvati Valley; ahead, the stark brown moonscape of Spiti Valley. Two completely different worlds separated by a single ridge. The contrast is staggering. Celebrate briefly — photographs, prayers, tears of achievement — then begin the long technical descent down the Pin side via glaciers, moraines, and finally, scree slopes to camp at 4,200m on the Spiti side.

Wake to the sound of the Parvati River rushing below your window. Morning walk along the river, watching the mist lift off the water. Brunch at one of Kasol's legendary cafes — Evergreen, Moon Dance, or Jim Morrison — where the aroma of freshly baked bread mingles with mountain air. Take time to buy some silver jewelry or handmade dreamcatchers from the local market. Pack up and bid farewell to this bohemian hamlet, with the Parvati Valley's magic tucked into your backpack.
