The signature day. Ride from Kalpa back down to the Sutlej valley and continue to Sangla (40 km). Then ride the narrow Baspa Valley road to Chitkul (3,450m) — India's last inhabited village on the Indo-Tibetan border. The road follows the turquoise Baspa River through thick forests and apple orchards. Visit the Mathi temple, the ITBP checkpost, and walk to the point where the road ends. Overnight in Chitkul.

Day trip to Chitkul (3,450m), the last Indian village on the Indo-Tibet border. The 25 km drive from Sangla follows the Baspa River through increasingly dramatic scenery. Chitkul is hauntingly beautiful — wooden houses with slate roofs, a tiny Buddhist temple, and the road simply ends. Beyond is only mountains, snow, and the border. Walk to the ITBP check post for the last point civilians can reach, then explore the village. The Chitkul potato — grown at extreme altitude — is famous in Kinnaur and makes the best aloo paratha you'll ever eat. Return to Sangla and explore the Kamru Fort — the oldest fort in Kinnaur with a carved wooden temple dedicated to Kamakshi Devi.
