Kasol → Kaza
Descend into a different universe. The Pin Valley is stark, arid, and beautiful in an entirely different way from the lush Parvati side. Brown mountains streaked with red, purple, and ochre minerals rise on all sides. The trail follows the Pin River through a narrow gorge before opening into the valley floor. Pass traditional Spitian villages with whitewashed houses and fluttering prayer flags. Tiny Buddhist gompas perch on impossible rock outcrops. Reach the remote village of Mud (3,700m) — one of the most isolated settlements in India — where locals greet trekkers as honoured guests. Sleep under a solid roof for the first time in over a week.
