The Manali-Leh Highway: 479 km of the most dramatic road in India, crossing five mountain passes above 4,000 metres. This two-day adventure drives you from the green valley of Manali, over Rohtang Pass, through the moonscape of Baralacha La, across the surreal plains of Sarchu and Pang, and over Tanglang La into the Indus Valley. You'll watch the landscape change hour by hour — from deodar forests to glacial valleys to high-altitude desert — and arrive in Leh having covered more terrain diversity than most people see in a lifetime. The highway is open June-October. Outside that window, even the army doesn't try.
