The complete Kashmir circuit: Srinagar, Sonamarg, Pahalgam, and Gulmarg in a single trip. Sonamarg — "the meadow of gold" — is where the road to Ladakh begins and the Thajiwas Glacier comes close enough to touch. Pahalgam is the river valley where Bollywood shot half its classic romance scenes (for good reason — the scenery does the work). Gulmarg is the ski resort at 2,650m where the gondola takes you to a snowfield the size of a small country. And Srinagar ties it all together with its Mughal gardens, its houseboats, its old city wood-carved houses, and a lake that reflects whatever the sky is doing.
