Chandratal, the "Lake of the Moon", lies at about 4,300 m near the Kunzum Pass on the Spiti–Lahaul boundary. Fed by snowmelt, its colour changes through the day against barren peaks, and it is a favourite camping and stargazing spot on the Manali–Spiti circuit, accessible only in the warmer months.
