Chicham Bridge

Chicham Bridge links the Spiti villages of Chicham and Kibber across a deep river gorge, at roughly 4,145 m. It is billed as one of the highest suspension bridges in Asia. It is reported to have cut the road distance between Kibber and Losar by about 40 km. Today it is a regular photo stop on Spiti circuits. People usually combine it with Kibber, Key Monastery and Langza. The bridge is a short walk from the road. The main attraction is the view down into the canyon and across the bare, rust-coloured slopes. Expect strong wind and thin air. At this height even a short stroll leaves most visitors out of breath. So acclimatise in Kaza first and keep the stop brief. Traffic is light and there are no services. The nearest food and fuel are in Kaza.
