Corbyn's Cove Beach

Corbyn's Cove is a small crescent of sand about 7 km from central Port Blair. Coconut palms line it, and a short drive along the seafront leads there. It is the nearest beach to the capital. That makes it the simple choice for a first look at the sea on arrival day. It also suits a relaxed evening before a morning departure. In season, water sports such as jet-skiing and banana-boat rides run from the beach. There are small cafes and stalls along the road. The water is shallow and easy-going. But swimming conditions depend on the tide and weather, so follow any warning flags and local advice. The beach is not as wide or remote as the ones on Havelock and Neil. Most travellers see it as a short stop, not a destination of its own. It goes well with a visit to the Cellular Jail in the morning and an evening drive back along the coast.
