Jobra

Jobra is the roadhead for the Hampta Pass trek. From Manali the road has around 40 hairpin bends. It takes roughly 45 minutes to two hours, depending on traffic and the state of the road. Jobra is at about 2,700 to 2,800 m. Pine, maple and rhododendron forest surrounds it, and the Hampta valley opens ahead. Most trekkers start walking here as soon as they arrive. The first camp at Chika is only 1.5 to 2 km up the trail, so day one is short and gentle. There are no lodges or shops here, only trail huts and the odd tea stall. You sleep in tents. The road can be rough after rain, so most trekkers go by operator transport or a local taxi. The trek season runs from June to early October. Jobra works best as a start point, with a night in Manali before and a night after the trek.
